Fall 2007 Antioxidants Nutrients and Inflammation Dr. Nicholas V. Perricone, latest book to be released on or around November 13, 2007, expands on his research on aging, inflammation, and free-radical damage. Antioxidant nutrients has centered on preventing cancer, heart disease, auto-immune disorders, and even aging. Aging is a part of life, but you can age with vigor and good health, or age with pain, fatigue and gloom? Can we play a role in this process and chose our path of aging? The connection here seems to be free-radical damage and inflammation. As Dr. Perricone has found in his dermatology practice, there is always a connection with inflammation and disease. When studying cancer, under a microscope, inflammation was present. In acute disease, everything from arthritis to heart disorders, inflammation was present. Skin that showed no clinical signs of aging, showed no inflammation. So are wrinkles a disease? Another question are negative signs of aging, such as damaged skin, an avoidable inflammatory state? Dr. Perricone and many other experts agree, the basics for disease is inflammation. What’s a body to do? We have control over what we put in our mouths! The leading cause of inflammation to top the list is: SUGAR! Also, know as high-glycemic carbohydrates. Otherwise known as junk food! Supplements For Anti-Inflammation Alpha Lipoic Acid Ester C B-complex Omega-3 Astaxanthin DMAE Vitamin E In summary, eat a high fiber, unrefined diet, exercise for healthy oxygen levels, fight free radical damage by taking supplements, limited sugar, and find productive ways to deal with stress. An anti-inflammatory diet/lifestyle can save you from many dreaded diseases and premature aging!
