GARLIC THE UNIVERSAL HEALER

"We remember the fish we did eat in Egypt at no cost-also
the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic."
Numbers 11:15

A true description of garlic would be glorious, a blessings from heaven.  Garlic has a rich history of it's curative powers. The children of Israel, missed their garlic, on their long journey from Egypt.  The ancient pyramid builders made raw garlic a part of their food ration, they claimed it gave them endurance. Through out history, warriors such as the Phoenicians, and later the Vikings, packed garlic when they knew they had a long voyage to travel.  In World War II, the British army stopped infection in wounds by applying it directly to the open sores. (Walker Morton, D. P. M., Garlic, pp2-3).  And the list goes on. But what can garlic do for us modern folks?  And what should we look for in a supplement, if we can't stomach the real thing? Read on and you will see this pungent plant has many medicinal properties, that can make an impact on our modern diseases.

GARLIC AND VIRAL INFECTIONS

In the book, "The Modern Medicine," by Ben Lau, M. D., PhD., an active case is made that garlic is truly a viable agent, to stop viral growth. Doctor Lau cites these virus to be the hard to treat ones such as chronic fatigue, Epstein-Barr, the cytomegaio virus, coxsackle virus, herpes virus, and even AIDS. A student working with Doctor Lau, found that AIDS, cannot grow well, with garlic in tissue cultures.  Remember leprosy?  Well, research is now being successful conducted, using garlic to treat leprosy.  Doctor Lau also confirms that garlic has a broad spectrum antibiotic effect against a host of microbes. Candida albican, a yeast infection, sometimes linked to an overuse of antibiotics, have been shown to cause these invaders to lose their membranes.  Thus, the yeast organism cannot breathe or survive. (Balch F. James, M.D., The Super Antioxidants, pp. 165-166).

GARLIC AND CANCER

Garlic holds the highest levels of selenium.  So many studies have proven selenium has an anticancer effect.  Supplements with aged garlic, may be viable way to increase blood selenium levels. In the article, " Prediagnostic Serum Selenium and Risk of Cancer," cancer patient had a lower level of selenium, than non-cancer patients. In China, at the Shangdon Province Medical College, in Peking, China, studies have proven garlic's compounds to control nitrosamines, thus limiting gastric cancer. Another popular cancer in America, is colon cancer.  In March 1986, the American Cancer Society, had Doctor Michael Wargovich, say that the sulfur compound found in garlic may inhibit the early cell changes associated with color cancer (Walker Morton, D. P. M., Garlic, pp.26-27).

We are hearing more and more virus-cancer links, these days. This means, that a virus may open the cell door to turn on the cancer cells.  For example, some breast cancers has been linked to Epstein-Bar virus.  Remember garlic is a destroyer of many deadly virus cells.

GARLIC TAKE IT TO HEART

Garlic and it's family member onions are two foods that you should take to heart.  Garlic, especially has an anticoagulant action in the blood.  Mighty garlic has an impressive track record, for full-specturm healing in the heart health area. Doctor Sinatra, M. D.  a board certified internal medicine and cardiology specialist, states that this humble lily can lower blood pressure, inhibit platelets stickiness, and reduce blood clotting.  Another exciting fact is that  when garlic breaks down, a compound called, "adjolene," may protect fats turning into cholesterol (Sinatra T. Stephen, M. D., Optimum Health, p.196).
